Taliban militants suffered heavy causalities after a series of airstrikes conducted in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan.
A statement from the Provincial Government Media said that at least six died after US Air Force carried out a sequence of raids on Taliban hideouts in Marjah district. A commander of the militants identified as Wafa was among those killed. Two vehicles and four of their hideouts were destroyed.
According to a source from the governor’s office, another senior member of the group identified as Waris was also among those killed.
In Nad-e-Ali district, the Afghan Air Force also carried out a series of airstrikes on Taliban hideouts that left at least four dead and two others wounded.
A commander of the Taliban by the name Haroom was among those killed. Motorcycles were also destroyed.
A commander of the Taliban identified as Haroon was also among those killed and two others were wounded while a number of motorcycles were destroyed, the source added.
