Syrian Troops Breaks ISIL Siege; Recapture Kweyris Key Air Base in Allepo

Syrian regime troops on Tuesday celebrated after retaking a key Kweyris air base in Allepo that has been besieged by the Islamic State militants since 2014.

The troops launched a well-coordinated military operation ending more than year-long ISIL control at the military air base in the northern province of Aleppo.

During the ground operation that was supported by combat helicopters, large number of ISIL terrorists were killed while scores other retreated injured.

Though there are ISIL fighters still present in the vicinity of the base, government troops reported the breakthrough as their celebration was also captured on broadcast live from outside the airport, hailing the advance as a victory.
