After weeks of fighting ISIS in the Badiyya area of Western Deir Ezzor, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) managed to secure the strategic city of Al-Mayadeen.
With support from the Russian Aerospace Forces’ attack choppers, the Syrian Army’s 5th Legion was successful after pushing the IS militants back over 10km West from their previous frontlines. The militants are now more than 60km away from Al-Mayadeen.
The Syrian military capitalized on their success in the desert area Western Deir Ezzor to launch more advances against the Islamic State terrorists in the Badiyya.
ISIS is currently confined to a large desolate area located between the provinces of Deir Ezzor and Homs; they have been unable to break out from this pocket, despite constant pressure on the Syrian troops in this region.
