Dozens of Islamic militant prisoners have surrendered to the Indonesian police after they took over a police detention center, the countries security minister said.
The riot erupted on late Tuesday at the headquarters of elite mobile brigade police in Depok.
Most of the prisoners surrendered before dawn on Thursday after police intervention. At least 10 inmates refused to give up but were shortly over powered after police fired smoke bombs and teargas.
The detained had seized weapons belonging to the officers, held some people hostage, tortured and killed some police officers.
The security minister assured the public that the situation was under control and all those involved were behind bars.
