Somali National Army (SNA) forces in cooperation with U.S Troops, carried out a joint military operation in the outskirts of Afgoye in lower Shabelle region on Wednesday night.
Reports from local residents say that helicopters dropped off troops in a banana farm located between Baladul-Amin and Afgoye late last night.
The target of the raid is not yet clear, although Al-Shabaab group has several training camps in the area, a base they have used often to launch attacks against the military bases belonging to the Somali government and foreign forces in the region.
No official reports have been given concerning the operation which is the latest in a string of raids by the allied troops from SNA, AMISOM and U.S military
