The Defense Minister of Spain, María Dolores de Cospedal in bilateral talks with Afghani President expressed Spain’s resolution to send additional troops to help train the Afghan forces under the Resolute Support mission.
Maria said that the number of Spanish troops will increase in Afghanistan who will focus on training and build the capacity of Afghan National Defense and Security Force members.
Spain has so far sent in 29,861 troops to Afghanistan since January 2002. It has been the longest military operation of Spain’s modern armed forces. The increased forces with join the US and NATO forces already operational in the country.
