Spain’s coastguard on Thursday said that they had rescued 600 migrants arriving by sea from Morocco in a 24-hours span. The spike in arrivals can be credited to the increased terrorist threats in Morocco and her neighbors over the past month. According to the UN’s International Immigrant Organization, more than 9000 people have arrived in Spain so far, this year which is three times more than last year. Moreover, the upsurge of immigrants has been fueled by the political crisis in Morocco which has threatened the social, cultural, political and economic future of the African nation.
Spain, Italy, and Greece have been the largest recipients of refugees from North African nations which are facing numerous terrorist threats.
