Three people have been reported dead after a group of Al Shabaab militants attacked them in Maleli area, in Lamu West. The attackers beheaded the three and torched several houses in the same area. The militants freed and are being pursued by the security agencies camped in the county over the past few months. The attack comes a few days after a different faction of the extremist group ambushed police officers in Garissa.
Lamu County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo says that the security agency in the area have intensified patrols and operations and are closing in on the location of the jihadist terrorizing residents of Lamu County. Residents have been urged to remain vigilante and report any suspicious activities and person to local authorities to better the operation.
