Somali security forces seized cache of explosives after military operation carried out in Marka, a coastal town in Lower Shebelle region of Somalia.
Somali authorities confirm that security forces successfully seized significant cache of landmines and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) following an operation in the coastal town, about 109 kilometers to the southwest of the capital Mogadishu.
Authorities said as many as 12 landmines and other explosives were recovered.

In the month of April, 2019, Somali security forces seized a cache of weapons belonging to the Al-Qaeda affiliate, Al Shabaab after a raid on four sites in Elasha Biyaha, about 15 kilometers outside Mogadishu.
Security forces unearthed cache of weapons including explosive materials, suicide belts, remote detonators, grenades, cartridges, ammunition, wires and other substances.
Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda branch has been fighting for more than a decade in Somalia in an effort to topple the Federal Government of Somalia.
