Somalia Government soldiers clashed with police officers 30 kilometers away from Mogadishu, intelligence reports show.
Dozens of the state security officers are confirmed dead after a fierce shootout at Bal’ad area 30 kilometers north of Mogadishu the capital.
A police unit in a convoy were headed to Johwar when they were attacked by government soldiers on a checkpoint.
An exchange of fire ensued with the soldiers firing on the police vehicles killing dozens of police officers.
High ranking Somali government security officials are confirmed in the incident.
Intelligence gathered by Strategic Intelligence services confirm that the chief of the Somali police force for the Middle Shabelle region was killed in the gunfight.
