Somali National Army has announced that its troops had killed two al Shabaab fighters and wounded three others in a heavy fire that ensued following an encounter with the terrorists in southern Somalia.
The forces carried out an attack on al-Shabab’s base in the outskirts of Bardhere town in Gedo region. The attack was carried out by the military who had launched operations to flush out al-Shabaab from the region.
The attack was accompanied by a streak of successful attacks mounted by the SNA in the southern regions of Somalia with villages recaptured and terrorists killed, wounded or neutralized.
Somali forces backed by African Union Mission in Somalia have intensified operations on al-Shabab in central and southern Somalia to flush out the group’s fighters from the regions.
