
SNA operations have seen at least five Al-Shabaab linked individuals arrested in a security sweep in Bardale town of Southern Somali’s Bay region, officials have said.
Addressing reporters on Sunday, Ali Adow Issack confirmed that security forces (SNA) had targeted Al-Shabaab militants during the operation conducted on Saturday night.
According to the official, SNA operation was guided on a prior intelligence that saw security forces arrest five individuals believed to be linked to the Al-Shabaab terrorist group.
SNA and AMISOM are on high alert during this month of Ramadan in which Al-Shabaab are expected to step-up attacks.
On Saturday evening, the Al Qaeda affiliated jihadist group, Al-Shabaab attacked Nasa Hablod hotel, a popular joint frequented by government officials.
SNA ended the siege killing all the militants holed up at the top floor of the hotel. 17 people among them a lawmaker, perished from the Mogadishu KM4 attack.
