Somali National Army (SNA) officers concluded EU-facilitated combat engineering training in Mogadishu.
The contingent drawn from 32nd Engineering Battalion concluded combat engineering course conducted by the EU Training Mission in Somalia (EUTM-S).
The second training was aimed at building the capacity of the officers to effectively deal with the evolving security challenges in the country among them the increased use of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) the Islamist combatants.
The officers got basic knowledge and skills on constructing obstacles for tactical maneuvers and setting up defensive positions.

The participants were also trained on the techniques to detect and defuse Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) which still represent one of the most devastating weapons the Al-Qaeda (AQ) combatants are using.
SNA officers received certificates of completion following the conclusion of Engineering Combat course in Mogadishu in an event attended by the EUTM-S Mission Force Commander, BG Pietro Addis, the Chief of SNA Engineer Department, BG Omar Jama, the GDTC Commander, BG Mohamed Mohamud Saney and the Commander of the 32nd Eng. Battalion, Col. Ahmed Shire Warsame attended the closing ceremony at General Dhagabadan Training Camp in Mogadishu (GDTC).
