At least three Al-Shabaab militants were killed over the weekend in the ongoing military offensive by SNA targeting militants’ hideout near Adan Yabal town in Middle Shabelle region.
Adan Yabal district commissioner Mohamud Sheikh Hassan confirmed that three Al Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab militants were killed on Sunday in a counter-terror operation at an Al-Shabaab held Gulane village, near Adan Yabal town.
“SNA – Somali National Army soldiers killed three Al-Shabaab fighters and seized assortment of their weapons during raids on Gulane area in the outskirts of Adan Yabal town,” Hassan was quoted as saying.
Al-Shabaab which is facing complete decimation in the near future is feeling threatened by ISIS setting shop in Somalia, and has resulted in killing key Kenyan and Tanzanian high value figures reportedly aligned to the Middle East-based Islamic State.
