Kenya’s Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Foreign Relations called on Kenyans to rally behind their KDF troops battling Al-Shabaab insurgents in Somalia.
The house team urged Kenyan populous to support the Kenyan Defence Forces efforts to secure the nation.
According Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Foreign Relations chairman Ndung’u Gethenji, supporting KDF will motivate the troops and ensure peace and security prevails in Kenya and within the region.
The chairman lauded KDF for selfless contribution toward stabilizing the war-torn Somalia as well as keeping the country borders safe.
The chairman was speaking after Kismayu trip which was aimed to collect facts on the ongoing mission. The visited doubled as a visit for the Kenyan troops and a way of marking World Anti-Terrorism Day.
The committee also paid courtesy visit to Jubaland’s President Sheikh Ahmed Madobe who narrated of KDF contribution in bringing normalcy to Somalia.
On behalf of Kenya’s Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Foreign Relations, we are satisfied with KDF’s work and dismissed information that the troops are involved in illegal charcoal business as misreported sometimes back.
The committee confirmed several regions of Somalia have been liberated/pacified and safe for refugees return.
