Somali Army officials have confirmed of a heavy fight between the SNA troops and Al-Shabaab fighting in southern Somalia.
At least six A-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab fighters were killed and several others injured in heavy fighting with the Somali National Army in Budhubo town, in Gedo region of southern Somalia early in the week.
According to Somali Army official Abdirahman Ibrahim Muhamed, the terror militants ambushed an army base in Budhubo town, in Gedo region, on Monday evening, sparking fighting that lasted several hours.
About 90 heavily armed terror militants took part in the attack but were met with fierce fire fight by SNA, leaving six of their fighters killed and several others critically injured. There was no casualty on SNA side.
Al-Shabaab said on its affiliated websites that its fighters staged major attacks against SNA and Ethiopian bases in Burdhubo town overnight with casualties.
