KDF using its MD-500 combat helicopters on Wednesday 21/3/2018 launched fresh air raids on Al-Shabaab new training base on the borderline with Somalia.
The Kenya Air Force MD-500 gunship helicopters drawn from Elite 50 Air Calvary Battalion supported the Kenya Defence ground troops together with Somali Army (SNA) in conducting a successful operation targeting a new Al-Shabaab base in El-Wak, a borderline town in Somalia.
The air sorties targeted the identified Al-Shabaab training and logistics base in the area killing over 13 Al-Shabaab terrorists. Most of those killed include the newly recruited fighters who were undergoing the military training at the terror base.
Overwhelmed, the terrorists withdrew from their positions and escaped deeper into Gedo region. KDF recently and in the past has conducted several successful raids against the transnational ragtag militants in Somalia.
