Reports from Somali National News Agency (SONNA) indicate that the government troops –SNA backed by African Union peacekeeping forces on Sunday 17th July 2016 conducted an intensive military operation at some areas habouring Al-Shabaab militants in lower Shabelle region southern Somalia.
The intelligence lead operations targeted four volatile areas including Beladul Amin location where militants are involved in collection of illegal tax.
According to AMISOM, the joint forces managed to destroy several makeshift camps and arrested 10 Al-Shabaab militants.
The operation also saw, the militant military vehicles known as the ‘technicals’ being recovered, RPGs assortment of rifles among other weaponry.
Residents urged to provide information that could lead to the possible arrests of more terror suspects and improve security within the region.
