SNA troops together with allied AMISOM troops have flushed out al Shabaab fighters in Luuq town and its surrounding villages after a fierce gun battle between the two opposing sides. The troops inflicted heavy casualties to the militants, arresting some of them as other scramble to flee to neighboring villages still under their control when they raided the Shebab’s military base.
Al Shabaab militants in Juba and Gedo regions of Somalia have in the past few days suffered huge loss as the AMISOM troops in collaboration with Somali National Army mount successive attacks aimed at flushing them out.
These major losses come at such a time when the al Shabaab is divided with a faction pledging allegiance and the deployment of the Amniyaat arm to contain the situation, the shortage of fighter due to massive defections and surrender.
