SNA and AMISOM forces conducted a successful security sweep in Burhakabo district of Bay region and arrested dozens of suspected terror operatives.
According to local officials, the joint security sweep was conducted from house to house in town where dozens of people believed to have Al-Shabaab links were arrested.
The operation also saw SNA and UN soldiers deployed in main street joints in the district conduct searches and people during the Thursday dawn operation.
According to Col Mohamed Isack, a senior police officer in the town said the detained suspects are currently held at a police station for interrogation and will be brought before a court immediately when probes conclude. The security sweeps to continue to preempt threat posed by the Islamist militant group in the region.
The operations intensifies following recent murder of two top officials, including a district commissioner in bomb attacks.
