Military reports from Somalia indicate that at Least three Al-Shabaab militants have been killed in a joint operation conducted by Somali and AMISOM army forces in Hiran region of Somalia.
Confirming on the operation, Mr. Mohamed Ali Mohamed, deputy governor of Jalalaqsi town in charge of security said SNA backed by AMISOM forces killed three Al-Shabaab militants when the Al-Qaeda affiliate Shabaab ambushed a convoy carrying Somali and African Union forces.
“We were going to carry out an operation in the area when the militants intercepted us but our forces overpowered them, killing three of the militants,” said Mr. Mohamed.
The operation also saw allied forces recover assortment of weapons from militants.
The military officials in charge of the operation vowed that the anti-Al-Shabaab campaigns will continue in Hiran region and called on the locals to cooperate with Somali and partner forces in the fight against Al-Shabaab.
