The security forces in the Southwest capital of Baidoa successfully intercepted and confiscated a vehicle carrying explosives on Tuesday.
Police recovered three hand grenades hidden inside a sack with grains after the search.
The police also arrested the driver of the vehicle who in the event maintained he was innocent arguing he had nothing to do with the weapons.
The vehicle was initially coming from Rama Cadey, Bakol region of Somalia.
Southwest security minister, Hassan Hussein Elay, thanked the security departments for the job well done and called on the members of the public to closely cooperate with the security agencies to improve security.
