
Belgian authorities on Thursday 21st April 2016 confirmed that Paris terrorist attacks key suspect, Salah Abdeslam was charged with attempted murder.
Salah Abdeslam is a key suspect of November 13, 2015 Paris attacks that left 130 people killed and scores wounded. The assailant is also linked to a fierce shootout with police in Brussels last month.
Salah Abdeslam appeared before a Belgian judge on Thursday to hear the new charge. During the shootout four police officers were wounded, an Algerian suspect and Islamist gunman were killed on March 15 shootout at a suspected militant’s safe house in the Brussels district of Forest.
The 26-year-old born in Belgium to Moroccan parents is currently awaiting extradition to France as a key suspect in last November’s attacks in Paris.
Belgian police have also interrogated him about potential links to the suicide bombers who attacked the Brussels Airport and metro station on March 22, that left 32 people killed.
