Rwanda Grand Mufti Ibrahim Kayitare on behalf of the Muslim Community in Rwanda distanced itself from the Muslim cleric gunned downed by police after he was arrested for recruiting for the ISIS terrorist group in Syria.
He said that, “Rwandan Muslim Community is against all acts of terror and I appeal to those with such evil mind to stop, because it’s taking Islam back into the ‘Age of Ignorance’”.
He warned the Muslims in Rwanda against all acts of terrorism, recruitment for and terror organization or any incorrect interpretations of the Islam religion.
He urged his brothers to preach peace, love and brotherhood and sham the ideologies that the killed cleric Muhammad Mugemangango, was trying to spread among the youth.
Despite investigations still ongoing in the links he had established Rwanda has not experienced emergence of any radical groups.
