
Russian is expected to make complete delivery of S-300 missile systems to Iran by the end of 2016, Russian presidential aide Vladimir Kozhin revealed Thursday.
"The first batch has now been unloaded, approximately a battalion. We will continue to fulfill our commitments until year-end," Kozhin was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti news agency.
An S-300 battalion includes several launcher vehicles laden with four missiles each. It also comes with a command and control vehicles, and long-range radar vehicles.
Russia and Iran signed an 800-million-U.S. dollar contract in 2007; Moscow would supply Tehran with five S-300 missile systems.
