Russia has deployed a new model of the Pantsyr air defense system to its Humaymim airbase in Syria to robust the fight against the Islamic State. This new version is the first of its kind to be listed under the Russian Service and is called the Pantsyr-S2.
Pantsyr air defense system has bidirectional radar- that is its radars are set up in opposing direction providing a 360 degree target scanning coverage. The system is expected to provide apt close-in defense against cruise missiles and other precision-guided munitions.
Russia has been in Syria to fight the notorious Islamic State Takfiri that has caused a huge refugee influx into Europe and caused the death of thousands of people both in the Middle East and across the world as they try to advance their agenda and amass followers.
