Oil exploration activities in Somaliland are going on smoothly, Range Resources has reported during their briefing on the drilling progress in the Shabeel North well currently being drilled in Puntland, Somalia.
According to Range Resources, Horn Petroleum, its strategic partner in the Shabeel North well project, Horn Petroleum, is at a current depth of 984m targeting a total depth of 2,400m.
The target depth will be smoothly arrived at and the budget allocated is relatively good and being well reimbursed at each stage of the spudding process.
The Shabeel North well is targeting Upper Cretaceous Jesomma sands, which had good oil and gas shows in the Shabeel-1 well 3.5 kms to the south.
