Intelligence Agencies in Kenya are mapping political violence patterns in CORD political gatherings and in their
strongholds and identifying effective measures to stymie the violence. There are concerns that ODM/CORD has become too violent as a movement and if this is not checked can have catastrophic ramifications in future election periods.
Odinga’s Strategy Failure
The much hyped referendum dubbed Okoa Kenya lost clout. Odinga had coined it to keep his policy of political relevancy. The referendum movement is comatose.
Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement ODM rocked. Regional governments saw Odinga as a force to reckon with in Kenyan politics. Today, ODM has become the insignia of political shame, violence, and hooliganism.
ODM has sought to keep Raila Odinga alive politically. This strategy has failed. Odinga’s time has passed and recent events show the catastrophe that is Odinga and ODM.
The policy of acquiescence would have worked pretty well for Odinga. If he left ODM to the other leaders the entire CORD could have morphed into a superior and more socioconomically relevant outfit.
Today ODM is neither the choice Luo fraternity party neither any lower-middle class citizen alternative as was before.
Violence and Lack of Strategy
ODM is now a brand of violence. Anything associated with the CORD movement is skeptically viewed following violent confrontations between supporters.

Its politicians showcased a rare brand of immaturity and political hooliganism in parliament after they attacked the house speaker and other members to protest a security bill.
The party leader Odinga also dictated who would vie for the Homabay Senatorial seat. The decision is likely to cost the party dearly. On Sunday, ODM campaign caravan was attacked by supporters. 4 people were injured while vehicles belonging to the politicians were stoned and destroyed.
Several key supporters of the party have ditched it for other parties.
A nomination process was marred by violence while party elections in 2014 ended in chaos and extreme violence.
A senior party official and Member of Parliament Megerer Langat was beaten up during a meeting by other officials.
Odinga seems to be the last factor of the party. Without the party, Odinga is dead and yet if the party is without Raila Odinga, it is dead.
Intelligence networks are carefully watching the party and its officials to map violence patterns and how political violence stoked by the party can be preempted.
