At least 30 terrorists were killed between Monday and Thursday by the Nigerien army during an ambush by the militant group, Boko Haram.
Heavy gun fire erupted between the forces and the militants. 5 soldiers also perished in the battlefront.
The militants were however pushed back following the intervention of the Chadian forces present in the region.
Six Nigerien soldiers were also reportedly wounded during the crossfire while two Boko Haram militants were captured with a large quantity of weapons and ammunition seized.
Niger’s army suspects that the Boko Haram militants were targeting Toumour village, 75 kilometers North of Diffa, where refugees who fled Bosso had settled after repeated attacks by terrorists group that is affiliated to the Middle East based, Islamic State.
