The Nigerian army troops on Thursday, 4th July 2019 killed several Boko Haram fighters when the terror group launched a coordinated attack targeting an army base in the northeastern state of Borno.
The army troops successfully thwarted the attack on the 212 Tank Battalion at Gajigana in Nganzai local government area of Borno on Wednesday night,
According to Brig. Gen. Bulama Biu, a general officer commanding the army in that part of the country the army troops with the support of the Nigerian Air Force engaged the Boko Haram fighters in a fierce battle and successfully repelled the attack besides killing several adherents.
The Boko Haram militants on gun trucks had attempted to infiltrate the troops’ location, two days after the troops repelled a similar attack by the same group on troops’ location at Goniri in the neighboring Yobe State where several militants were killed and the army recovered two-gun trucks and high caliber ammunition from the attack.
