A military court in Puntland State handed over four terror operatives a death sentence over terrorism charges.
The terror operatives identified as Jeylani Hassan Issak, Hassan Lamow Aden, Abdirazak Hussein Tahlil and Abdi Omar Iftin were handed the death penalty while another man identified as Bashir Osman Seed was sentenced to life in prison by the court.
According to the military court, the men had links with the Al-Qaeda linked group Al-Shabaab and ISIS faction in Somalia.
One of the terror operative sentenced to death, Abdirazk Hussein Tahlil, was arrested in a joint operation launched by US and Somali forces back in 2012.
Al-Shabaab has active bases in Puntland where they continue to stage assaults against security forces; besides, the North Eastern Somalia’s Puntland faces a growing threat from ISIS terrorist faction that split from Al-Shabaab.
