The Governor of Mandera County, Ali Roba warned of Al-Shabaab massive recruitment in Northeastern prefecture of Kenya.
Governor Roba implored relevant country’s security agencies to work together and avert what he termed as grave consequences if unchecked.
The governor called on security agencies to change tactics and improve on ways to deal will militants’ radicalization and terrorism.
The governor made those remarks in Malindi during the closing ceremony of ASALs conference where terrorism and radicalization were key issues discussed at the conference.
Governors and key stakeholders blamed terrorism, conflict among pastoralist communities, cattle rustling and shifta wars as the cause of underdevelopment in ASALs Counties.
They urged the government to enhance security if it is committed to help transform the regions.
