At least 17 people died when a small passenger aircraft from Juba International Airport plunged into Yirol river on Sunday, 9th September 2018.
According to State Information Minister, Taban Abel, the plane that crashed had 22 people on board. Seventeen (17) people died while three people were reportedly rescued, two people still missing.
One of the survivors, an Italian doctor working with an NGO, reported to be in critical condition and undergoing surgery in Yirol Hospital.
There were three children among the 22 passengers, a source said.
L-410, the ill-fated aircraft was operated by Baby Airlines.
Official communication expected to clear contradictory scenarios reported where a section of media has reported that the L-410 aircraft had 21 people on board with 19 reportedly perishing from the crash and two survivors. A doctor at Yirol hospital reported 19 deaths and three survivors.
