The United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), has announced the arrest of a leader of the anti-Balaka militia.
In an official statement, MINUSCA said that he been identified as Jean Francis Diandi nicknamed “Ramazani.” Ramazani is responsible for several serious violations of international humanitarian law in the Bria IDP camp, including the December 4, 2017, attack on peacekeepers, in which one Mauritanian police officer was killed and three others wounded.
His arrest comes following an arrest warrant issued by the CAR authorities during an operation by UN peacekeepers in the Bria, in the north-central part of the country.
