Khattab Al-Masri, a jihadists fighting for the Al-Qaeda affiliate in Somalia, Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen movement (HSM) has been identified as one of the, more than 200 jihadists killed in the botched attack against Ethiopian Army (ENDF) AMISOM contingent with a main forward operating base (FOB) in Halagan, Hiraan, Somalia on June 9th 2016.
This intriguing event at Halgan, Hiraan region of Somalia was a significant blow to the HSM whose hope then was to celebrate Ramadan. Military battle damage assessment (BDA) backed by photo images show a deadly rout that left hundreds of jihadists lying dead outside the base. Among those killed was Khattab Al-Masri, an Egyptian Jihadists.
The Egyptian Jihadist Khattab Al-Masri was killed when the Al-Qaeda affiliate in Somalia, c conducted an attack against the Ethiopian National Defense Forces FOB in Halgaan on June 9th.
Al-Masri is a former close associate of slain American jihadist fighting for Al-Shabaab Omar Hammani aka Abu Mansur al Amriki. Amriki was killed after the late Godane (former HSM Emir) gave instructions to have specific foreign fighters killed to end dissent and fissures in the HSM.
Abu Mansur al Amriki was tracked down and killed by a group of Amniyaat operatives led by current HSM Emir Abu Ubeidah. Khattab Al-Masri was not killed during the purge despite his close relationship with Omar Hammani. Amniyaat (the HSM Intelligence) though warned, just like Hammani, he was in bad books with the Al-Shabaab.
Photo images evidence show Khattab Al-Masri lying dead outside the defense lines of the Halgan ENDF-AMISOM contingent FOB.
