
Police in Kwale County thwarted an imminent terrorist attack and killed a wanted Al-Shabaab member.
According to Coastal regional police boss, Francis Wanjohi, three other Al-Shabaab terrorists were arrested in the operation, a hand-made grenade and motorbike were recovered.
Police acting on a tip-off/intelligence of plans to conduct an attack within the county, raided the hideouts of suspected Al-Shabaab returnees killing one of them, Wanjohi added.
According to police reports, one of the arrested terrorists identified as Idris Aden has been on police radar for a long time.
Police are also investigating if the group was involved in the killing of the three Nyumba Kumi officials and reformed Al-Shabaab returnees in Bongwe area Kwale.
The killed Nyumba kumi officials, Mohammed Juma Mwaguzo, Juma Omar Mwanyota, Hassan Debe and Subira Sudi Mwangole were against the extremism ideologies of the militants group.
Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet has called on members of public to be vigilant, report any suspicious activity or character(s) as militants are likely to attempt to conduct attacks during Ramadan.
