Kenyan police have on Friday 30th August 2019 morning gunned down a suspected Al-Shabaab operative in a shootout in coastal County of Kwale.
According to Kwale police boss, the officers intercepted the terror suspect identified as Mohamed Rashid Mwatsumiro at Ng’ombeni prefecture in Matuga in Kwale County.
The suspect opened fire on police even if he was ordered to surrender. One officer was injured as police exchanged gunfire with the suspect.
Police officers managed to gun down the suspect and recovered a pistol. The suspect had been linked to the murder of two village elders in Ukunda some three weeks ago.
The slain included; Omari Fumbwe and Nyumba Kumi chairman Bakari Dondo.
