Ranking among best military forces in Africa, Kenyan Military is among the best equipped militaries in the African continent.
The capabilities of the Kenya Defence Forces and the manner in which the troops execute their operations on land, sea and on the airspace ranks Kenya Defence Force among the top 10 African defence forces with the highest Military Strength.
Their strength and might is a reflection of their leadership in command, man power and financial stability. Kenya has heavily invested in the defense budget as it stands at approximately $0.6 billion.
The Kenya Defence Forces military strength is a force to reckon with as seen in their operations in the country and in the on-going war against the Al Shabaab militia group in Somalia.
Kenya has a total of 127 aircrafts, 17 interceptors, 17 fixed-wing attack aircrafts, 41 transport aircrafts, 64 helicopters and 27 trainer aircrafts.
The airstrikes, naval operation and land force control of these forces have brought back stability in Somalia as compared to 2011 when the troops first conducted their operation against the Al Shabaab in Somalia.
Kenya boasts of 24,000 active front-line military officers, 5,000 active Reserve officers. These troops have been armed with and several tanks. The military also has armored fighting vehicles, 127 total aircrafts, 66 helicopters, 14 crafts on her maritime zone just to mention the least.
According to the GPF 2015 ranking, the top 11 African countries with strong Military Power are; Egypt, Algeria, South Africa, Nigeria, Ethiopia, Morocco, Tunisia, Kenya (Kenya Defence Forces), Angola, Niger then Uganda.
Other Kenya Defense Forces military assets include the Jasiri naval ship, long range surface to surface missiles (SSM) and surface to air missiles (SAM) which have strengthened the military capability in conducting its operations.
