Kenya Army operations in Fahfadhun, Gedo region yesterday, killed 46 members of the al Qaeda affiliate in Somalia, al Shabaab. The Kenya Defense force acting on intelligence conducted a targeted assault on a new al Shabaab base erected in the outskirts of Fahfadhun.
Preliminary intel says that the gallant KDF soldiers engaged the militants in a 4-hour gunfire exchange that left 46 militants dead, three tactical vehicles with mounted guns destroyed and a cache of assorted light and heavy weaponry recovered.
The KDF pounding of the militants is in line with a recently reaffirmed commitment by the Kenyan troops to rid Somalia of terrorists that have been exporting violence to Kenya’s north Easter frontier.
