4th December 2015, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Air Force reportedly conducted successful aerial strikes against Al Shabaab targets in Somalia.
The air force strikes bombarded two logistics and training camps belonging to the Somali based Islamist group, the Al Shabaab in south of Somali’s lower Jubba region.
The KDF military fighter jets conducted precision strikes against perceived pro-ISIL militant’s strongholds in Diif and Yara-lafagari localities as reported by several media in Mogadishu.
According to military sources, the militants suffered huge casualties though the exact number has not been established. The aerial raid completely rundown the two militant’s bases.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) is articulating peacekeeping mandate under the banner of African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and is responsible for Sector 2 comprising Lower and Middle Jubba.
KDF has severally conducted successful raids against Harakat al Shabaab al Mujahideen (HSM) movements denting the militants’ capability as well as crumbling the outfit’s economic lifelines.
Since the entry of KDF into Somalia, Kenya has been faced by challenge of militancy sneaking into the country through its porous 700 kilometers border with Somalia, prompting the government to take raft measures of erecting a border security wall.
