Friday 6th November 2015, Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) serving in Somalia under AMISOM banner engaged Al Shabaab terrorists killing nine.
According to KDF spokesman David Obonyo, the militants were killed when their vehicle got stuck as the troops pursued them during an operation at Jungal, Somalia.
During the raid, nine AK-47 rifles, five IEDs, assorted ammunition including bullets, a double cabin Hilux Surf vehicle and a tractor were all seized from the militants.
KDF spokesman also said that others items which have been recovered in the recent operations including the boat the militants have been using while crossing Jubba River to Gedo were also confined at Bardheere camp.
The spokesman also downplayed propaganda claims on social media that Al Shabaab militants had clashed with KDF troops in Billis, Quocane and Tabda areas. He shed the light that the report was misleading and that it was a small attack that the forces repulsed successfully with no casualty.
KDF are conducting their operations and duties as usual and warned rogue social media users against spreading misleading false reports.
The operation at Jungal operation against the Al Qaeda branch in Somalia comes barely two week after Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) crashed and bombarded Al Shabaab’s base in Somalia and killing 15 terrorists.
