Friday 6th November 2015, in yet another botched attack, Somali troops managed to repulse heavily armed Al Shabaab militants who tried to attack their military vehicles in the outskirts of Beledweyne, Hiiraan regional capital.
Al Shabaab militants lately have been seen to adopt guerrilla kind of attacks against Somalia and African Union troops especially on their convoy vehicles, conducting surprise ambushes on the troops.
The early Friday encounter saw a deadly clash between the Somalia government troops and the Al Qaeda affiliated Al Shabaab exchange fierce gun fire.
According to a report by Col. Mohamed Omar Aden, a top military commander in charge of the locality, government soldiers managed to gun down several militants in the counter-attack inflicting heavy losses on the Al Shabaab attackers.
Al Shabaab who are known to rush to their linked websites/ media channels including their social media platforms to claim attack responsibilities as a warfare strategy have been quiet about the incident.
