Ordnance is a term equivalent to weapons used by the armed forces.
The primary mission of Kenya Army Ordnance Corps (KAOC) is to sustain the Kenya Army through acquisition, warehousing and distribution of ammunition stores so as to support operations both in peacetime and wartime.
They mainly make part of the non-combat staff in the Kenya Defence Forces, manufacturing bullets to be used by the combat forces but the Kenya Army Ordnance Corps themselves also get access to use of the ammunition.
The Kenya Ordnance Factories Corporation (KOFC) is a state corporation established under legal notice No. 125 of 23rd July 1997 to manufacture arms and bullets for the country.
Situated in Eldoret, KOFC is Kenya’s only ammunition production firm that manufactures and sells quality small arms ammunition and related products for the nation.
Among its customers are the Kenya armed forces, all Kenyan security agencies, all approved licensed arms dealers in the country, approved friendly governments, approved international bodies, strategic partners, industrialists, farmers, millers and the public.
KAOC has been able to sustain the Army successfully up to date. Among the notable achievements of KAOC are its support in army training and its support in Operation Okoa Maisha and Operation Linda Nchi, among others.
