Saab hopes to make sales of its signature Gripen C/D combat aircraft to Kenya among other developed countries in its 10 year forecast.
Kenya is an accessible market, in terms of global opportunities, Saab head of the Aeronautics division, Ulf Nilsson said ahead of the Paris Airshow.
Saab was very specific about these global opportunities besides listed its potential customers for the Gripen C/D combat aircraft.
Specifically, Saab sees potential in Kenya depending on programme timelines among other few countries as a buyer of the Gripen C/D combat aircraft.
According to Ulf Nilsson, the Gripen C/D combat aircraft is a very viable proposal for those nations based on both capabilities of the aircraft and costs.
These statements mean that Kenya Army has already entered talks with Saab on possible purchase and maintenance contracts but is yet to make a commitment to a sale contract.
Saab however pointed out that refurbished Gripen C/D combat aircraft airframe lives are very low.
