Kenya and Somalia Foreign Affairs Ministers met earlier on Wednesday 28/3/2018 in Nairobi where they discussed issues of common interests.
Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma and Somali counterpart, Ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad met in Nairobi and discussed issues on health, teaching, administration and diplomacy for Somalia.
Also tabled in the discussion is the current border dispute on the Gedo and Mandera regions. A committee from both Gedo and Mandera has been formed to resolve the crisis.
For three weeks Beled Hawo residents have been protesting over what they claimed the Kenyan security border wall construction is an incursion into Somalia’s land.
Kenya has been constructing what it says is a security wall aimed averting attacks from Al-Qaeda (AQ) based Somali militant group Al-Shabaab.
The militant group through its spokesman issued threats to Kenya over the border construction ironically saying it will come to their ‘defence’.
