A Unit of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) AMISOM contingent based in Kismayo repulsed an ambush by the Somali terror group Harakat Al-Shabaab Mujahideen (HSM) outside the port city.
2 Terrorists were killed and several others wounded when they attempted to attack the mobile patrol unit. The militants detonated a remote-controlled improvised explosive device targeting the tactical patrol vehicles.
The KDF conducted a tactical maneuver that avoided the IED and instead ambushed the militants. The Kenyan troops in Somali have time and again exhibited their vigilance in dealing with al Shabaab insurgents both in their capacity under AMISOM as well as within Kenya; in Boni Forest and North Eastern part of the country.
