Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) bomb experts have successfully defused several Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs).
KDF bomb team detonated three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted by Al-Qaeda linked Al-Shabaab along Sarira-Kolbio military supply route. The routes is frequently used by KDF military convoys and other security patrols.
The troops also recovered some paraphernalia used by the militants in the area.
The operation follows intelligence tip-off by the intelligence service agents that a group of armed Al-Shabaab were sighted between Kolbio and Hulugho.
Al-Shabaab is known to plant IEDs on roads that are commonly used by security forces along the Kenyan border with Somalia and in different areas across Somalia.
