Military Intelligence reports from Somalia confirm of a battle against Harakat Shabab Mujahideen better known as Al-Shabaab on Wednesday 22/2/2017.
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) backed by U.S. forces engaged the Al-Qaeda operatives in a fierce battle near the port city of Kismayu
According to MI assets in Somalia, the battle erupted near the port city of Kismayu, Jubbaland, Somalia.
Further reports about the battle reveal that KDF received a huge back up from U.S. air support.
U.S. drones reportedly were used in the battle to track the terrorists during the heavy fighting.
Actual BDA and number casualties have been confirmed in the attack, but sources say the Al-Shabaab sustained heavy losses from the joint attack.
The deadly terror group Al-Shabaab, insurgency emerged in 2006 from the now-defunct Islamic Courts Union, which once controlled Somalia’s capital of Mogadishu.
Al-Shabaab continues to fight to topple the Western backed Somali government to pose strict version of Sharia Law.
The terrorist group has suffered huge damages from the hands of SNA, AMISOM and U.S. forces, however, the group still controls pockets of territories in Southern and Central Somalia.
