Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) conducted airstrikes against Al-Qaeda affiliated jihadists in Somalia, Al-Shabaab terror movement positions in Dhamasa township in south-western Somalia killing at least 18 militants besides destroying 2 technical vehicles used by the terrorists.
Bodies of the terrorists were strewen outside the targeted area and army intelligence was able to capture image evidence. The terror group often retrieves the bodies of the dead and burries them immedeately at safe grounds to avoid more attacks.
The technical vehicles mounted with Dushka machineguns were bombed and completely destroyed in the targeted airstrike on Sunday.
The vehicles are suspected to have been stolen from a Somali Army camp in Elwak on Friday. Al-Shabaab took control of an SNA camp on Friday evening. The Somali army retook the base early Sunday.
There is improved cooperation between SNA and KDF in decimating the militants capability in Gedo region.
