Unidentified masked assailants earlier today killed Kabete MP, George Muchai, alongside his driver and two bodyguards. The incident happened at about 0300hrs (Kenyan time) at Kenyatta Avenue roundabout near Nyayo House in Nairobi. The assailants intercepted the car the MP was travelling in (a Toyota Fortuner) and opened fire killing all the four occupants in the car. The assailants used a white Toyota Probox vehicle – whose number plates were concealed – to carry out the attack.
The MP’s car was being closely followed by a saloon car carrying his daughter, family members and nephew; and they all witnessed the killings but they were not harmed during the incident. The assailants’ car initially knocked the MP’s car thus forcing his driver to stop before a gunman emerged with an AK-47 rifle and shot the four occupants at close range thus killing them. The assailant stole a briefcase and two guns – from the bodyguards – but left the MP’s pistol intact; and thereafter drove off.
The first police officer to arrive at the scene of crime found four lifeless, blood-soaked bodies inside the MP’s vehicle. First responders from the St.John Ambulance Services further collaborated eyewitness reports that the assailants were in a Toyota Probox vehicle.
The scene of the shooting has been cordoned off by the police and paramilitary GSU officers; and investigations are currently underway. Nonetheless, due to the nature of the killings and the circumstance surrounding it; detectives are not ruling out execution. The CCTV cameras mounted next to the roundabout will assist the police in their investigations.
Mr. Muchai and his family were from a family get-together and were heading home when the incident happened.

My deepest condolence to the family
